Wayne Henderson | 2008/09 | 14 (0) | 0 goals |
Irish International Goalkeeper.....that's what he was again, after an impressive loan spell with Town. Henderson was a former Aston Villa youngster, who had found his feet at Brighton & Hove Albion. He made a move to Championship club Preston North End, but failed to break into the first team. He was loaned by Mike Newell towards the end of the 2008-2009 season, after a move for Ipswich Town's Shane Supple had broken down the day previously. Henderson put in some cracking performances, and restored a lot of faith in the fans as he helped the club survive relegation from League Two. Newell expressed a desire to sign Hendo permanently, but the young 'keeper kept to his hopes and aspirations by wanting to return to Preston to fight for a place in the first team.
