Mansfield v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/10/2011

TOWN have no new injury news for the away day at Mansfield. The managers are unlikely therefore to make many changes from a side which won 5-2 last time out, although the two goals conceded may cause concern, especially with defenders coming back from injury.

Right back Gary Silk is pressing for a starting spot after recovering from a knee problem, and Silk played in a reserve friendly at Hull this week, as did Spencer and Garner. Full back Jamie Green (hamstring) is also back in contention after missing a couple of weeks with a niggling injury,

Rookie striker Sam Mulready won't be in the squad however as he has joined Boston United on a month's loan.

For the Stags former Town centre back Ben Futcher returns from suspension as does fellow defender Tom Naylor. Midfielder Lee Stevenson (toe) is also back in contention and defender Rhys Day (calf) has recently returned to the squad.

Two Mansfield players are suspended. Defender Louis Briscoe is serving the last of a three-game ban, while midfielder Anthony Howell begins a three-match ban after being sent off at Tamworth.

Ex-Town midfielder Paul Bolland is also in the Mansfield squad, but may have to settle for a place on the bench against his old side.

Paul Cox's side have had an up and down season. After a quiet start the Stags rose to the higher echelons of the table with five straight wins. They have drifted down the table though with just one win in four, and currently sit in eighth just six points ahead of Town.
