Town Get First Clean Sheet

TOWN recorded their first clean sheet on the season and were the first team this season to come away from Wrexham with anything. However the Mariners' long tun of scoring in every away game stretching back to the start of last season has came to an end as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Tomlinson and Mackreth started for Town and Amond and Pittman started on the bench. Nathan Arnold was missing from the side due to a family bereavement. Wrexham had the better of the first half hour but Town managed not to concede during that time by limiting the home side to very few clear-cut chances.
Town improved in the last 15 minutes and of the first half and created a couple of half chances their own in the closing minutes of the first half.
Grimsby once again struggled in the second half and Wrexham came closest from a free kick when McKeown made an outstanding save to deny the home side from a Vose free kick. Wrexham continued to press and it looked only a matter of time before the home team scored while Grimsby presented very little attacking threat at all.
Hurst finally made a change with 15 minutes left bringing Pittman and Marshall on for Bogle and Tomlinson. It almost paid immediate dividends when Mackreth put the ball in the net but it was disallowed for offside. The Mariners at last found their rhythm in the closing stages of the game, but neither team came very close to scoring.
It was a good defensive display by Town but the struggled in the other half of the pitch to find any rhythm at all.
