Gateshead v Grimsby Team News

JACK Mackreth and Scott Brown have both departed Blundell Park following their ability to break into the first team. Mackreth has yet to find a new club and Brown has joined Accrington Stanley.
That leaves Paul Hurst with two players less to play with as the Town boss has not yet signed anyone else, a situation not helped by reserve players Callum Bastock (knee) and Josh Sunter (broken leg) both being set for long spells out after sustaining recent injuries.
Another absentee is left back Gregor Robertson (knee) who was injured in last week's win over Altrincham. Another full back Danny East has returned to training though this week and could be a straight swap, or Richard Tait could come over to left back and either East or Nsiala play at left back.
Meanwhile new midfielder Jon Nolan moves closer to making his first start with the reduction in the number of available places.
Grimsby and Gateshead have met 8 times each in 2014 and 2015, and this will be the first meeting of the new year between the old adversaries. Grimsby maintain the upper hand overall, but Gateshead have a better record in their own stadium than do the Mariners. The Heed are undefeated in 2016 and have crept to within a few points of the play-offs, something they knocked Grimsby out of two years ago before losing at Wembley in the final.
