Nielsen Set To Sign?

Lennie Lawrence hopes to make a significant step forward in his quest to sign David Nielsen during the next 24 hours. The Mariners boss is currently in Copenhagen and is engaged in talks over the future of the Danish striker.

Before his departure Lawrence was optimistic about closing a deal as he said: "At the end of the day it's up to David, but it's hard to imagine a player going to a club and making the impact he's made. He'd be foolish to walk away, but I don't think he's got any intention of doing that." Lawrence is keen to complete the negotiations as quickly as possible, largely in order that he may assess the club's financial position with regard to the possible signing of Norwegian Knut Anders Fostervold: " We'll be having talks and David, his agent and the people from FC Copenhagen will be there and hopefully we'll make progress in the next 24 hours." The Grimsby boss shall also be taking the opportunity to continue monitoring players that had first attracted his interest some time ago: "One or two of the Brondby lads I did fancy strongly when I saw them and it's an update on their availability," said Lawrence.
