Hux Puts His Shirt On It!

Grimsby vice-chairman Bryan Huxford has pledged that he will do all he can to safeguard the future of the club's famous black-and-white striped shirts after kit suppliers Avec went into liquidation. A company spokesman said "there will be no more further supplies of the team's replica kit."

Mr Huxford has other ideas, however, as he announced that he would attempt to protect the club's interests by thrashing out a take-over bid with Avec. Huxford told the Grimsby Evening Telegraph: "We have tried to get contact with the receiver in order to take the company over. We will be making inquiries about the acquisition of the name (Avec) and the asset." The vice-chairman went on to indicate that he was confident about the prospect of his buy-out being a success, and when asked about how soon he would like to clinch the deal, he responded "The sooner the better." He also warned fans: "Grimsby Town strips will be scarce, so if you want one, you'd better make it quick." Should Huxford's bid be successful, it will mean that the Mariners will be responsible for supplying kits to local rivals Hull and Lincoln City.
