Coyne: Confidence Came

"We have probably been having as many chances in other games but we haven't been scoring first, then we've been playing catch up," said Danny Coyne who made a brilliant save from Lee Bradbury in the second half against Pompey at Blundell Park on Saturday.
Speaking in a post match press conference the 27 year old stopper said, "It was nice to get the first goal and then the confidence came. We have shown we can take a lead and hold it"
Coyne who said he had recently been playing the best football of his career has also been rumoured to be the subject of a transfer bid. However, this has caused some concern amongst the fans as Danny is seen as a "Local Hero" and he has been the saviour of the team on more than one occasion in recent months. Coyne's development in the squad since he joined Grimsby has been remarkable and he is now rated as one of the best keepers in the division, and recently was selected by Wales manager Mark Hughes for a training session.
Talking on Saturday's game, manager Lennie Lawrence said "There were a couple of hairy moments but I'm well-pleased with the character they showed after losing their last two home games, and reasonably pleased with the resolution they showed when they had to defend."
"We started a bit nervous, but after that off we went. We didn't defend brilliantly, but it was adequate. Their goal was a bit of a disappointment but it would have been an injustice if we hadn't won.
"The players showed a lot of character and my last message to them was 'No fear, don't be afraid to play', and they weren't."
