Is football a business or a sport?

Pair Head Home

By: Jostein Jensen
Date: 03/02/2001

Former Grimsby Town striker David Nielsen can't expect a big surprise party when he arrives home to FC Copenhagen after failing to get a contract with Bradford City. The 24 year old Dane had been on a 2 day trial with the Yorkshire side in a last ditch attempt to remain in the UK.

When David Nielsen returns to his working place - FC Copenhagen, he will not be received with open arms and get a welcome home by his club leaders.

"Now that I know that he is not being given a contract, I expect David to arrive for training at FC Copenhagen on Saturday. After all it's us he receives his wages from. If he does not arrive it will be another example of him breaking his contract", said the FCC Director of Sport Niel-Christian Holmstrøm.

Knut Anders FostervoldMeanwhile Norwegian on-loan left back Knut Anders Fostervold (pictured) has received the message from Lennie Lawrence that he can return to Norway after this weekend. Speaking to Romsdal Budstikke, Molde's Knut Anders Fostervold revealed that he has got the green light to return to FK Molde over the weekend.

After it was known that a permanent move wasn't to be arranged between Grimsby and Fostervold's Norwegian club Molde - Fostervold hasn't played the two last weeks. Lawrence's preference has been to use other players with a future in the club, though Fossi has also been out with knee problems.

"If it wasn't for the inflammation in my knees I think that I would have returned home earlier. But the manager wouldn't have it on record that he had sent home injured players, so I had to manage a 'medical' first. I can train 100% with Molde FK next week, and am looking forward to the training camp at La Manga in Spain", said Fostervold who is looking forward to his return to Molde after six weeks in Cleethorpes.
