Allen Injury Boost

GRIMSBY Town today received a massive boost with the news that striker Bradley Allen's ankle injury is not as bad as had been feared. The front player, who has had a troubled season with injuries, travelled to London to see a specialist, and was diagnosed as only suffering from a bruised bone.

The 29 year old Londoner was told the news that he stands an outside chance of being in contention for Grimsby's next game against Norwich City a week on Saturday. "The specialist seems to think that there will not be much of a problem and that's good news". said Allen today.

The fortuitous development comes at a fitting time for Town boss Lennie Lawrence, with many Town fans unhappy at the Grimsby manager's failure yesterday to sign a striker before the season's transfer deadline was reached. Lawrence had pessimistically forecast earlier this week that Allen would not play another game for the Mariners this campaign saying "Without being melodramatic about it, I'd be pleasantly surprised if he played another game this season".
