It has been announced that Grimsby Town's game against Blackburn on Tuesday night is to be aired live on Sky television. The news will be welcomed by the club, as this means an extra £50000 will be due to Grimsby Town football club.
With Blackburn only mustering a draw against Wolves and Bolton winning on Saturday the gap between the 2 teams fighting for the second automatic place is down to 1 point. The potential importance of the result on Tuesday night for both teams has convinced Sky to show the Mariners game against Graeme Souness's men.
A win for Blackburn could be a big step towards Premiership football for them next season whereas a win for Town would make it mathematically impossible for the Mariners to be relegated to Division 2.
The Mariners have only featured once on Sky this year. That game ended in a 2-0 victory for the Mariners against Gary Megson's West Brom. Lennie Lawrence will be looking for a similar result in front of the Sky cameras.
