Possible Soler Interest Confirmed

By: Fishy News Team
Date: 25/06/2001

ASPIRING Grimsby Town owner Bryan Huxford today confirmed that flamboyant Norwegian businessman Erik Soler was one a number of individuals or syndicates potentially interested in backing the former Town Vice Chairman's plans to buy the club, as revealed on this site at the weekend.

Huxford today has been seeking Stock Exchange approval of his plans to buy up a controlling interest of the clubs shares, which he needs to do so in order to carry out his plans to wrestle control of The Mariners from the current board of directors.

"...Soler is one of a number of people actively seeking a football league franchise..."

Although the former Town director said he had not personally spoken to the Norwegian millionaire, Huxford told Radio Humberside that he was "being kept well informed by the people who are speaking to me...Soler is one of a number of people actively seeking a football league franchise. Whether Grimsby is one of them I do not know."

The airline chief is keeping tight-lipped about the exactly identity of his backers saying only that their offer is dependent upon the current board handing over control to himself or a like-minded individual. "They will only do so if there is someone in charge with a vision for the future and the energy to carry it through. They feel they cannot deal with the current board." Huxford told the press this weekend.
