GRIMSBY TOWN have played down reports that the Mariners are attempting to lure Charlton striker Clive Mendonca back to Blundell Park on loan.
The move follows an interview with Planet Football in which the Town boss indicated the that he was interested in the Addicks striker, but no more than that for the time being.
Grimsby Town press officer Tim Harvey told the BBC: "People put two and two together and think that because Clive is trying to get back to full fitness, a month at a First Division club is just what he needs, but it is just speculation.
"I think that every time he gets himself fit there is always talk about him coming back here.
"He was a big fans' favourite at Grimsby and because he is not regularly in the Charlton first team there are always going to be people linking him with us."
