Grimsby Town Announce Two Players Released

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 24/01/2002

GRIMSBY Town Football Club announced today the release of first year professionals Ronald Ermes and Robbie Busscher. Both players are former Dutch Under-19 internationals, and both had previously spent time with Feyenoord.

The club released a statement today saying: "Neither 6' 1" goalkeeper Ermes (20), or 19 year old midfielder Busscher feature in the plans of new player-manager Paul Groves and the Club has therefore reached an agreement with both players and their agent allowing them the opportunity to earn a contract elsewhere before the end of this season.

Manager Paul Groves told Mariners' Net: "We felt it was best to give the lads the opportunity to sort out something else before the end of the season, when there are lots of players out of contract and looking for a club." "We wish both players well."

  • JOHN McDermott might not be ready for next Tuesday's crunch game with Rotherham, as the clash with the Millers may come too soon during the club captain's comeback from a four-month injury lay-off.

Town, who could be without both first choice centre backs Paul Groves and Simon Ford through injury, may have to do without Macca for another game. "The Rotherham game may come around too soon for him" Town boss Paul Groves told Radio Humberside. "He's keen and eager so we'll keep an eye on him."
