CARLTON Palmer revealed he had fined centre-back Dave Challinor two week's wages after the tackle on Martin Pringle that led to a suspected broken leg saying: "It was a straight red, a horrendous tackle, and I don't condone that."

Carlton Palmer also lashed out at the referee saying: The referee sent me off for clapping him. He was an absolute disgrace. He thinks the game is all about him."

Paul Groves said he was gutted for Pringle who was taken straight from the pitch to hospital by ambulance.

"It looks as though he has broken his leg. He was just starting to show what he could do, he was starting to cause all sorts of problems."

"He has been out for a year and has worked his way back to fitness - and it was his decision to come up here."

Replying to Palmer's comments about the Challinor tackle he said: "That shows the character of Carlton Palmer. He said this to me on the pitch."
