Fright Night For Who?

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 29/10/2002

GRIMSBY Town's assistant Gaffer Graham Rodger has thrown down the gauntlet to the first team squad for tonight's Fright Night Special against Burnley at Blundell Park.

He has asked them to show "Grimsby grit", and not to be scared to have a go in tonight's Division 1 clash. Rodger told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Now's the time the starting eleven have got to get out there and have a real go at them. We want them to show some Grimsby grit and let us see what the Mariners are made of made of."

"We've got to start from the whistle and have a go at them. It's a big, big game for us and we need to play like the Ipswich Town performance."

"We're coming off the back of a drubbing, just like then, and we need to produce a 150% team performance like we did to beat Ipswich. "The Mariners matched Wolves on Saturday for an hour, but the inevitable happened and we need to play better to beat the drop to Division 2 "We have to kill every team off when we're on top. At Wolves we could have gone in 2-0 or 3-1 up at half-time but we didn't."

"We're playing well for long periods in games and then not getting the result we need"

"We have to be more disciplined when we've got teams under pressure and convert our chances we produce. That's not just strikers, it's down to the team "
