Kabba Return Unlikely

PAUL Groves has conceded that Steve Kabba may never return to play for the Mariners again, reports the Sports Telegraph. Grimsby were hopeful that the speedy front man would return when Palace's injury crisis eases, but the Gaffer is remaining realistic.

"You never say never in football but, to be honest, I can't see it happening," said Groves. "Who had heard of Steve Kabba when we brought him here? We feel that he progressed all the time he was here and there is lots more to come from him too.

"We just feel disappointed because we took somebody from a reserve team and played him in the first division and showed everybody that he can cope there. But now he's gone back to Palace and whether he's going to play regularly is up to them."

Groves has now used up five of his eight loans for the season. Robinson, Kabba, Allaway, Oster and Gavin have all been drafted in for either a one month or a three month loan, and time is running out for Groves to secure a season-long loan deal.

The manager has up until Christmas to secure the season loan and the player must also be under 24 at the start of the season.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Steve Croudson is just two weeks away from full training after undergoing surgery in May. The 22-year old is now looking to a December return.

Speaking to the Sports Telegraph he said: "I'm hoping to be in full training in a couple of weeks and I want to be back and ready for the first team by next month.

"It's been the hardest lay-off I've ever had and it's been really frustrating sat watching every game week in, week out." Shaun Allaway's loan runs out on November 30 and it is unlikely that the Leeds youngster will stay at Blundell Park after that date.
