Cash Help For Clubs!

STRUGGLING Nationwide League clubs are to be offered a share of a £20m rescue package that has been put together by the Football Association, the Premier League and the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF).

Half of the grant will be available immediately with a further £10m released next August, to be drawn from FSIF funds due over the next four years.

The collapse of ITV Digital earlier this year has left many Nationwide clubs financially strapped and the intention behind this financial package was to ease the burden on all Nationwide clubs.

Philip French, of the Premier League said; "There is nothing in this for the Premier League, we are not doing this to gain anything back for ourselves."

"We are doing it because the plight of Football League clubs is a very real one and it is only right and proper that we are able to prove much-needed help at this particular time."

Peter Heard, acting chairman of the Football League said: "This funding will have considerable impact on the finances of Football League clubs and will play a major part in helping them to survive the cash shortfall caused by the collapse of ITV Digital."
