Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Rotherham Team News

By: Richard Hubbert
Date: 17/03/2003

AFTER the Mariners well fought 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday, Town will be looking to continue their recent good form away at mid-table Rotherham, a fixture that ideally the Mariners need to pick up a result from.

The good news is that Town have no new injury worries for their trip to Millmoor. However, there are fears that Alan Pouton’s season could now be over. Not only does the former York City midfielder have to sit out four games through suspension, but it is also feared that the knee ligament injury that kept him out over Christmas has reappeared which may mean curtains for his season.

But Pouton is now suspended for the next four games forcing player manager Paul Groves to name the same side that finished the game against Watford on Saturday which means that Pouton will be replaced by Darren Barnard, who impressed after coming of the bench on Saturday. This means that Stuart Campbell will be re-instated to his favourite central midfield berth along with Groves and Hughes, who have done particularly well in the "holding role" in recent games.

The only change will be on the bench where we could see a return for Stacy Coldicott who trained at the tail end of last week and is looking fitter again after a recent ankle injury. Meanwhile, Michael Boulding will not be fit enough to be part of the squad, but as reported yesterday, does not require an operation on his injured ankle and will be looking to regain full fitness very soon.

Probable Team (4-5-1 formation) Danny Coyne, John McDermott, Tony Gallimore, Georges Santos, Simon Ford, John Oster, Richard Hughes, Stuart Campbell, Paul Groves, Darren Barnard, Darren Mansaram.
Substitutes: Steve Chettle, Stacy Coldicott, David Soames, Steve Livingstone and Sean Allaway (GK)
