Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

New Loan Imminent?

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 24/03/2003

PAUL Groves is hoping to bring in a loan player within 48 hours as Stacy Coldicott will be out for 3 months with the fracture to his leg he suffered in Saturday's game at Burnley.

Stacy is expected to leave Burnley Infirmary today.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports that Groves has held talks with John Oster and his agent about a permanent move, and is now waiting Sunderland's decision.

"We're looking for a loan player and we might have some news on that tomorrow. We can ill afford any more injuries and we need to go into the run-in with as many faces as possible," said Groves.

"We've spoken to John and his agent and they are now going back to Sunderland to see what the situation is up there. It depends on Sunderland now."

"Alan and Stacy have been the two main central midfielders for the majority and losing them is a big blow. Stacy's is not a compound break, it's only hairline. But it is a decent hairline. He's done for the season. It will be something like three months. He'll be in pot for six weeks and then he has his rehabilitation."

"We wanted to bring him back yesterday but there was a problem with transportation. We're hoping to get him back here today and we are waiting to find out if they will put the pot on in Burnley or Grimsby."

Groves said: "It looked fairly innocuous. Stacy went to close down Steve Davis and one or two players who were around him heard the crack. As soon as the ball went out of play we went over to him and we knew he had broken it."
