Jarvis Pleased With Their Sponsorship!

By: The Fishy Team
Date: 13/05/2003

JARVIS, Grimsby Town's new sponsors told The Fishy that they are looking forward to their association with the club after confirming that their sponsorship was not in doubt.

Richard Emmott, Group director of corporate communications at Jarvis, in a statement to the Fishy told us; "Just for the record I am pleased to confirm that the sponsorship deal has been completed and that there are no difficulties with it."

"We look forward to launching it properly with the club at the start of the new season."

"Our preference was to launch it, in association with the start of the new campaign rather than at the end of the relegation season, but clearly from the club's perspective they need to get shirt sales going over the summer for obvious cash flow reasons."

"As to the lack of mention on our website - nothing sinister about that. I am in the process of having a new site built and therefore am doing as little as possible with the existing site."

"I hope that this serves to quell some of the more florid rumours which I know are circulating about this." END

Ed: In terms of sponsorship, Grimsby Town have probably achieved more than any other club in the second division and better than some in the first. Gaining sponsorship from a major national company despite being relegated is not an easy task and it is doubtful that any other club in UK football has ever achieved that.

It is very satisfying to see the Mariners leading the way and setting the pace in these activities and is a strong indication of the club's commitment to its future success.
