Coyne And Macca On The Move?

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 03/06/2003

COVENTRY City are the latest club to join the hunt for Grimsby Town star Danny Coyne, says the Grimsby Telegraph. Gary McAllister is searching for a keeper and Burnley are also believed to be interested in him.

There is also interest from other clubs and Coyne will probably be allowed to leave on a free transfer in order to lower the wages bill.

In other news it looks like John McDermott is close to agreeing a deal with Sheffield Wednesday. Rumours of this move have been circulating but it appears now that the move is on the books.

Paul Groves meanwhile has re-iterated that it is likely to be the end of the month before new faces begin to arrive at Blundell Park. With 10 additional players' expected to arrive at Blundell Park before pre-season training on June 30.

But that gives Groves less than four weeks to organise it and he is still locked in talks with several existing players. He has talked to three prospects but with now result as yet.

"The list (of available players) only came out yesterday and we will now start to get some sort of feel as to what's on the market. Over the forthcoming weeks we'll see what the market is and who is available. It's only now that thing will start to unfold. It's still early days."

On Steve Livingstone and Tony Gallimore he said "As yet we haven't spoken to them. At this moment in time there is no change in the negotiations front."
