The Jevons Situation Due To Be Resolved.

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 23/06/2003

THE Phil Jevons situation seems likely to be resolved later this month. At the moment, the Mariners cannot afford to play him because of his appearance money which means that Everton received a substantial payment every time he plays.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports today that talks have been held between him and club and the outcome looks positive with Everton also making an offer regarding their payments.

"Phil Jevons wants to play football and he is prepared to negotiate a new contract with us. He had some personal problems which caused his form to dip but he says all this is behind him now and he wants to play. We will give him the opportunity to resurrect his career with us or we will help him further it with someone else", said chairman Peter Furneaux.

Talks will be held between the player, his agent and Town boss Paul Groves later this month.
