Welcome Back To Stacy But Donovan Released!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 04/02/2004

GRIMSBY Town's Stacy Coldicott is making a come back in the Mariners' Reserve clash at York this afternoon 11 months after breaking his leg

"I've been included in the squad for the game and I can't wait." Coldicott told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"The leg feels fine. I probably haven't tried everything yet but it's time to start asking questions of it. I went in to get my club tracksuit yesterday - eight months later than everybody else. They only had extra large left! It will be great to travel with the lads and be part of the team."

"I want to be back in action as soon as possible. But it will be up to the powers-that-be. They know my thoughts on it. I want to be in there, giving them options and helping the team out. But I don't want to count too many chickens. I just want to get through this game first."

There can be no doubt that manager Paul Groves will be pleased to see Stacy back, so too will the fans. He is an additional player this season, almost a new signing with the time he has been out.

Welcome back Stace!!

But in other news it is hard luck for former Mariners hero Kevin Donovan who has been released by Rochdale after playing 7 games as a fill in for Leo Bertos.

With him coming back from international duty, Donovan is surplus to requirements and was released.

Pity to see a past player out of work. In his prime he did wonderful things for the Mariners including his winning goal in the playoffs at Wembley.
