DARREN Barnard has been released by Wales so that he can play against Bristol City at Blundell Park on Tuesday night. Barnard was in the squad to face Scotland on Wednesday, but Mark Hughes gave permission for the left back to return to Grimsby.
Town caretaker boss Graham Rodger was delighted with the news, telling Radio Humberside that Mark Hughes had "done this club a massive favour. You can't speak highly enough of him". Rodger has arranged for a bottle to champagne to be sent to the Wales team manager by way of thanks.
