Groves Settlement Reached?

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 25/03/2004

INFORMATION received today indicate that Paul Groves has reached a settlement with Grimsby Town and it is expected that the club will issue a statement shortly.

Our sources says that this settlement which has finally been reached will mean that Groves will be a free agent and plans are being made for him to sign a contract with Scunthorpe United that will see him at Glanford Park until the end of the season.

This will be a sad farewell for a player who was a favourite with the fans and who served the club well. Only when turning to management did he lose the support of the fans and eventually the board who supported him, until in the end, they had no option but to cancel his contract.

Notwithstanding that, fans and supporters of the Mariners will, without doubt, wish him well as he enters the final phase of his career as a player.
