Peter Furneaux Quits

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 29/07/2004

PETER Furneaux has quit as the chairman of Grimsby Town Football Club. It appears he will be continuing as a director of the club but with John Fenty as the new chairman.

It looks like Mr Furneaux has eventually paid the price for being the spokesman for the club. His has been the job of announcing all the bad news over the last few seasons and in this case the messenger has probably been shot!

There can be no doubt about his commitment to Grimsby Town. It has been spread over many years and during that time he has seen many changes at the club and has always been there to help sort out the problems.

Peter has also been very well supported in his terms of office at Blundell Park by his wife Ann who herself plays an active part in the local community.

Those who have had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to Mr Furneaux will have no doubt of his commitment and love of The Mariners.

Best Wishes to him. He has deserved them!
