GRIMSBY Town chairman John Fenty is confident that the Mariners can avoid administration and come through the current battle to pay off the taxman.

At the fans forum last night he said: "We have looked at a variety of ways of raising the money like getting more people through the turnstiles and drumming up support in the business community."

"We are also trying to invest in the future by getting more youngsters inside Blundell Park - they are the future of the club."

"We don't yet know the time-frame we have to raise the money we owe the Inland Revenue, but the campaign has got off to a great start. "

"One way for people to help is by purchasing shares in the club. "

"They can be a part of this 127-year old institution and get involved with the Supporters Trust as well, after all it is the people's club."

On the stadium he said; "If we can get some means of funding, like an anchor tenant, then the new stadium dream is still alive.

"We have spoken with the new chief executive at North East Lincolnshire council and he wants to help us out.

"It may be a few years yet, but I'm optimistic that can still happen one day."
