Crowe Talks Break Down

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/05/2005

TOWN utility player Jason Crowe is to look around for other offers after failing to reach an agreement with the club over a new deal. The former Pompey and Arsenal full back, who has been at Blundell Park for three seasons, has been offered a two year contract by the Mariners.

The 26-year-old is to contact other clubs to see what other offers he is able to receive from elsewhere.

Town Chairman John Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We have made what we think is a good offer to Jason but he is yet to get back to us.

"He has decided to look around at other offers and we are disappointed by that because we feel we gave him our best offer.

"But we'll wait and see what happens - I'm hoping we will have some sort of decision either way by the end of the week."

The club, though, did receive a boost today when veteran John McDermott agreed to sign a new contract for next season in a joint playing and coaching role. Several other players are yet to make up their minds over new contracts.

Elsewhere today former Grimsby striker Mick Boulding has been released by Barnsley. The much-travelled frontman finished the season in a loan spell at Cardiff under former Mariners' boss Lennie Lawrence. The former tennis pro has been at Oakwell since January 2004, but has never quite recaptured the form of his two spells at Blundell Park.
