Ticket Allocation Worries

IS it just me, or have others noticed the probable over-subscription of Newcastle tickets that appears to be looming? Or even the despair at having not been able to get a ticket?

Two stubs from any of the named three games gets you a place in the impending queue but doesn't actually guarantee you a ticket. Indeed, all three stubs wouldn't either.

Being a season ticket holder is the only guarantee of a ticket.

While this can only be good for the club in respect of a full house, what does it mean for the fans?

There are, as always, differing opinions on both availability and distribution of tickets. And there will always be those fans who believe 'their' particular case should be the one that is adhered too.

First the facts, then the perception.

Season ticket holders take priority, not a problem so far. Season ticket holders increased as a result of the tie with Spurs making less tickets available to others.

Season ticket holders have increased again as a result of the Newcastle tie, making even less tickets available to others.

You can now enter competitions to win tickets, you can also book the function suite at Blundell Park to get tickets, making even more tickets not available to others.

Now you add those with two stubs and there you have over-subscription.

Now we get to those who believe 'their' case is right. Shift workers, These fans attend many home games depending on their shift. They are not season ticket holders, but they are regular supporters. They can only attend, let's say, one of the three named games. Along comes the "glory hunter" who only attends two games to get his stubs for his place in the queue. Given the above over-subscription, that now means regular attendees cannot get a ticket.

So what's the answer?

Well for a start the Club are dammed if they do, and dammed if they don't, no matter what they decide to do.

Rather than capitalise on forcing glory hunters to attend games, why not automatically save your stubs, and be able to present any two or three stubs from previous games? This protects the shift worker and non season ticket holding regular supporters. Then go for the glory hunter with named games after that.

I wonder how many will be moaning and groaning without tickets come October 26th, most of whom will probably have no trouble getting tickets for the Macclesfield game in November?
