Beat the Bookies: Week 19

GRAYS had a player sent off early in their FA Cup tie with Mansfield which meant they never stood much of a chance. Well that's my excuse anyway.

This weekend sees Town face Bristol Rovers once again at Blundell Park, in a repeat of the FA Cup 1st Round Tie that went the way of the Pirates last month. bet365.com rate the Pirates 7/2 to repeat their triumph, in a match which this time will have the added spice of the return of former Grimsby manager Lennie Lawrence (now Director of Football at Rovers) to Blundell Park. Town are odds on at 4/6 to win, and a draw is rated 5/2. Although Grimsby have won their last two home games fairly convincingly, the Mariners are still not firing on all cylinders at Blundell Park and 7/2 for another Rovers win does look tempting.

The top game in League Two sees leaders Wycombe come up against Rochdale. Wycombe have been wobbling in recent games (with the exception of when we played them!), but are still unbeaten. Dale, who have scored lots of goals this season and have an excellent forward line, can be the first side to claim the Chairboy's scalp. bet365.com rate Rochdale's odds of winning at 5/2.

Finally Wigan face the daunting task of playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a repeat of the opening game of the Premisership season, which Chelsea were fortunate to win 1-0. This time Wigan are a whopping 16/1 to topple Chelsea, with even a draw still rated 9/2 with bet365.com. Wigan, who have shown they are capable of hitting teams on the break with their pacy front players, have nothing to lose and could grab a draw or even go one better against a Chelsea side many of whom will have played in the Champions League clash during the week.
