The Inquest - We Were The Better Team - Casper

IN the post match interviews, Russell Slade praised the commitment of his players after a tough match at Giggs Lane where the conditions were not the best and Bury were on a roll after recent results.
Slade told Mariners Net "I am absolutely delighted, the attitude of the boys in the last few days has been excellent. Nobody has been wanting to leave the training ground - we had to kick them off to go home and rest."
"To be honest we've gone a goal behind to a team that is in form, with a bit of confidence - beaten Wycombe, beaten Orient and in the end we grinded it out."
"It was a difficult day for defending - for both sides. The crosses were coming in and caused problems. Anything with any slight quality on it was going to upset the back four."
"Credit to them, they put us under a bit of pressure at the start of the second half. They got the ball down the side, tried to get the ball in behind us and back that up with the conditions - that was causing us problems."
"It took us a bit of time to relieve that pressure, and we got a goal from Gary Jones. And it is a great goal by Gary Cohen to win us the game today."
"It was never going to be a classic, the pitch was never going to allow that. It was one of those days, an old fashioned game of football. It was one of those were you had to adapt your game plan."
"In the end we've adjusted and come out on top."
"We hope that it hasn't taken too much out of our legs. We are in training tomorrow and try and stretch off, get some energy back into those legs during the next 48 hours."
".…It's difficult to stomach when you're the better team…."
Chris Casper was not happy with the result claiming Bury were the better side.
"We dominated the game for long periods, we created the better chances and we have come away having lost the game. Somebody once said that football was a funny old game - it was funny today!"
"I thought everyone was excellent, I couldn't fault anybody. They took the ball, showed good attitude and had a good work rate. We created good chances and hit the target. Danny Reet had a couple of decent chances, but we are very unfortunate."
"A big thing will probably be if you look at their team, experience wise against my team. It's a big factor in it sometimes, but our young lads that have played today have come through that and they will have gained a massive amount of experience from a game like that."
"I thought they were all excellent today, especially the young lads. Danny Reet is a very good finisher, as he has shown already. Sometimes you control the tempo of the game with a better experienced side."
"We kept on doing the same things a little bit too much, but I am not going to be critical of any of my players. Their work rate and everything today was spot on. We can't win every game, but it's disappointing when you get your noses in front and you're playing well and you're creating chances to go on and win the game."
"You don't mind losing a game that you've had the good run about in and the other team has been the better team. It's difficult to stomach when you're the better team and I'm sure the stats will prove that."
