RUSSELL Slade is likely to make a number of chances as Town face Peterborough at Blundell Park following three consecutive away games in which Grimsby have picked up just two points. Matt Bloomer looks like being recalled in defence to partner Rob Jones, due to Ben Futcher being suspended.

Long-term absentees Simon Ramsden (ankle) and Justin Whittle (knee) are still out of action, so Slade has little option to pick loanee Bloomer, the only alternative being the lesser spotted Glen Downey.

"There aren't many options at the back at the moment so it is likely that Matt will be involved. Futch will be a big miss but I'm sure Matt won't let us down back there," Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph.

Gary Jones looks likely to miss out again, with the toe injury which caused him to miss the Stockport clash still troubling the former Tranmere striker. On Tuesday Slade partnered Reddy and Cohen up front, but he has other options available. Martin Gritton is a straight swap for Gary Jones, so Slade could play Gritton in Cohen's place.

Junior Mendes has started in the last two games, but Slade - who has promised to ring the changes after a run of poor results - could recall Cohen to the wing at the expense of the Londoner.

The other main options available to the Town boss are which full backs to play. On Tuesday Tom Newey was dropped in favour of the experienced pairing of McDermott and Croft, but Town's defensive performance was poor overall in the 2-1 defeat at Stockport, meaning a possible recall for Newey, with either Macca or Crofty missing out.

Peterborough manager Mark Wright was this week suspended whilst an investigation of racist behaviour by the former England defender are investigated. Assistant manager Steve Bleasedale is expected to take charge of the side for Saturday's game, so the effect on the team - who recently rose into a play-off place, and currently lie ninth in League Two - is unknown

The details of the allegations are understood to centre around comments made to young central defender Sean St Ledger, who was dropped from the team at the weekend.
