Who will win League 2?

Player Of The Year Award

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 13/04/2006

THE six contenders for the Fishy Player of the Year award, decided by the number of votes received in the Player Of The Month throughout the season, have now been chosen.

The player who gains the most votes will receive the award on Tuesday 9th May at McMenemy's along with the other Grimsby Town official awards that night.

The six players contending for your vote are;

Rob Jones (Defender)

Rob has been outstanding this season in a tight defence and will be a gem if the Mariners get promoted to League One next season. His partnership with Justin Whittle has proven his doubters wrong this season.

Paul Bolland (Midfielder)
Bolly has proven himself in a very lacklustre league this year and will part of the Grimsby Town folklore if he carries on like he has this season. Could turn out to be one of the best midfielders the club has bought.

Steve Mildenhall (Goalkeeper)
Steve has been most impressive this season and has kept Town in many games with his shot stopping. With his contract up at the end of the season he will be missed if he doesn't re-sign.

Michael Reddy (Forward)
What can you say about Redds that already hasn't been said, the amount of different goals he's scored proves that he's got everything a lower league footballer needs.

Gary Jones (Forward)
He was Russell's last piece in his squad jigsaw at the start of this season and, after no pre-season with a league team, has caught up with his fitness and scored plenty of goals to keep his 1 in 2 ratio up for his career stats

Ciaran Toner (Midfielder)
If Ciaran gets a continuous run in our midfield he could be worthy of a Northern Ireland recall but has to prove himself before that happens. He has overcome initial criticism and is a valuable member of the squad

So these are the six contenders for the Fishy Player of the year Award this season and you can vote for them on the Question of the Week.
