Reddy Not Ready

MICHAEL Reddy's troublesome groin injury, which cost Town dearly in the run-in last season, has flared up again and mean's Grimsby's prize asset is once again a doubt for Tuesday's opening pre-season friendly against Lincoln United

Reddy travelled home early from Town's RAF "boot camp" to see a specialist in Grimsby, and now is in a race against time to get fit for the season's opener against Boston on August 5th.

An anxious Graham Rodger told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We thought that the rest that he has had over the summer would have cured the problem.

"We have tried to ease Michael back in in the last 10 days, but he started to feel his groin and we didn't want to push it any further.

"We sent him back to Grimsby to get a specialist to take a look at it and await the verdict."

Reddy was Grimsby's star player last season until he picked up the groin injury in the spring. After that the former Sunderland striker was never the force he was, and doubts over his injury have probably kept bigger clubs from coming in for the Irishman over the summer.

  • Meanwhile Town are hoping to make some significant new signings over the course of the next few days.
