Fishy: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Jarrod: I'm 38 years old and have been supporting Town for 32 of em. I work on an offshore platform in the North Sea as an Ops Tech.
Fishy: When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?
Jarrod: My first experience with Town was standing in the Barratt Stand in the 70's watching QPR play The Mariners and it hail stoned like you wouldn't believe. I can't remember the score though.
Fishy: Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?
Jarrod: Loved big Keith Alexander. but I would say favourite player was McDermott as he always gave 100% and was proud to wear the shirt even though there were better players, he has to be most fans' top player (closely followed by Garry Birtles)
Fishy: If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?
Jarrod: Middlesbrough away when Marc.North scored twice in the second half. It was an excellent day out and an even better result. Granted the Wembley days and Liverpool away were special but I've got them on video so have seen them a few times since.
Fishy: What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?
Jarrod: Best away ground at the moment is Sunderland's for me the worst ever has to be Scarborough's, shocking and always was bloody cold.
Fishy: What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?
Jarrod: Wembley in the cup, I just stood and saw the support and cried (only a little though), it will live with me forever.
Fishy: What is the strangest thing you have ever done at a game?
Jarrod: Strangest thing was not strictly legal but I sat on the roof away at Chesterfield a few years ago, a scorching day and far too much Newcastle Brown.
Fishy: What is the worst game you've ever been to?
Jarrod: Worst game was at the Millennium play-offs, simply no passion, a disgusting performance.
Fishy: Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?
Jarrod: Buckley love him or hate him, he always gets you there in the end, hopefully he will be saying those immortal words again soon when were back in the championship "I've took 'em as far as I can". I could live with that.
Fishy: How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?
Jarrod: I have moved away from Town, not far but with working off shore I don't get to as many as I used to. But really it was just such a disappointment in Cardiff I got totally disillusioned with the side, although I will be making a effort this season again as I know AB will sort them out.
Fishy: Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?
Jarrod:
Batch |
McDermott | Lever | Futcher | Croft |
Donovan | Cockerill | Cunnington | Brolly |
Mendonca | Birtles |
