Town Secure Home Cup Draw

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/10/2007

GRIMSBY have been drawn at home in the regional quarter finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, a match if they win they will be just two games from Wembley.

Town face one of two League One sides at Blundell Park with the form of Doncaster or Oldham.

In the Northern and Southern section the draw has separated out all the League One and Two clubs, and it is possible that all the League Two representatives could be knocked out when the next round is reached. Grimsby however are the only League Two club to be drawn at home in any of the eight ties. Doncaster and Oldham are both in the bottom half of League One and Grimsby will fancy their chances of getting past either club in front of their own fans.

So far this season the JPT trophy has provided the one respite from a hitherto depressing League Two campaign and Town will be desperate to get as far as they can in the competition with the carrot of a Wembley final just a few games away,

Northern Section: Carlisle v Stockport, Hartlepool v Morecambe, Leeds v Bury, Grimsby v Doncaster/Oldham.

Southern Section: Bournemouth v MK Dons, Swansea v Yeovil, Gillingham v Dag & Redbridge, Brighton v Cheltenham.

Area quarter-finals to be played the week commencing 12th November.
