Will it be a Merry Xmas

CHRISTMAS is just Days away and Town have began to hit some valuable form just before a busy festive period. It is a time to avoid the terrible TV schedules (not more bloody Bond!), those delightful Brussel Sprouts and of course a dream excuse to escape the in-laws!
A time to meet up with old chums, share a tipple and talk of the good old days in which the Mariners were awesome, the great results, goal scoring legends and true heroes hoorah for history please raise your glass!
Then as you leave the pub for the game reality will probably set in, with Stockport (away) Accrington Stanley (home),Lincoln (Home) Chester (away) between now and the New Years Day game, Town have some serious points to play for.
Against Mansfield we played against a very poor team with no morale whatsoever. We played ok, put some balls in the box and Jones put a bullet header away, ok not pretty but how many people care? We got three valuable points. We deserved the win and in fairness Town did try to kill those Stags off.
On paper these are all teams we can beat, but in reality it will not be that simple.
Stockport are a team I have visited several times, the best result I have witnessed was a 3-3 since then not a hoot of a point! When they have visited our coast they always seem to win too, it has been donkey's years since we have beat these lads, a true 'bogey team' and in need of a good beating from Buckley's Boys.
Stanley have a knack of thrashing us at the sparsely populated Frazer Eagle Stadium, luckily for Town we are not away so I feel we have a decent chance. Stanley are a kick anything in sight style of team, so Town will have to battle and looked to spread the ball to the wide areas in my opinion if we want to get behind them and score!
Lincoln (the massive club of Lincolnshire cough cough splutter, please fill our Osmond one day) are down the foot of the table with us. They have picked up some form after recruiting Peter Jackson (the ex Huddersfield manager) and they will be out for revenge after Town won 2-1 at Sincil Bank earlier in the season. Only two points and one place separate the two clubs so a true 'six pointer' if Town win!
Then we have Chester on the Border of Wales. These lads have been in fine form and find themselves in the play-offs. Hopefully Town won't be hung over and will go out to get some more vital points whilst the Welsh air fills their lungs.
I am sure it will be a testing time for Town but with character and some of the desire the lads have shown recently we will be dreaming of a black and white Christmas!
