Darlington v Grimsby

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 14/03/2008

DANNY North is Grimsby's only concern for Saturday's game at high-flying Darlington. Town's No. 9 will miss the game with a knee injury, which will mean another start for the in form Martin Butler, alongside probably Gary Jones.

The only change likely for Grimsby is a return for James Hunt, which will probably mean 17-year-old Ryan Bennett returning to the bench and Jamie Clarke playing at right wing back.

Darlington currently lie in fourth place but have been near the top all season. Their top scorer is No. 20 Tommy Wright who has bagged 12 goals this season, although they tend to score goals from all over the park, and concede few (25 in 36 games, Town have conceded 47 in 37).

Striker Kevin Gall, who had been on loan from Carlisle, has returned to the Cumbrians.

Earlier this season the Quakers spanked Grimsby 4-0 at Blundell Park and could have had a hatful more but for Gary Montgomery in Town's goal.

Grimsby have not won against Darlington in their last 11 games, and have only scored in one of the last 7 games. You have to go back to the 1970s when Town last won a league game against the Quakers, but they won that handsomely, 7-2 at Blundell Park, also winning away 1-0 that season!

Town: Barnes; Atkinson, Fenton, Newey; Clarke, Hegarty, Bolland, Hunt, Boshell; Jones, Butler

Subs: Montgomery, Whittle, Toner, Till, Taylor

Darlo: Stockdale; Austin, White, Foster, Parker; Joachim, Hodge, Cummins, Purdie; Abbott Wright

Subs: Liversidge, Valentine, Kennedy, Ndumbu Nsungu, Blundell
