Town Equal Club Record

GRIMSBY'S defeat to Darlington today means that they failed to beat the club record of eleven consecutive away games without defeat. However the present run does equal the record of 11 matches set under Russell Slade at the beginning of the 2005-2006 season.
These two recent sequences of 11 games without defeat in away games are by far and away the best in Town's history. The next best is eight in 1956 and 1960. Grimsby also went seven games without defeat on their travels in 1933, 1953, 1955, 1960 (twice), 1980 and 1990.
2008 is also the 13th most successful year in Grimsby's history, excluding the 19th century. Town have acquired 35 points (taking 3 points for a win, including cup games) in the 18 games so far this year. They have only bettered this is 12 seasons
