Overview

Lincoln started the 2007/2008 campaign poorly, managing just two wins before a winless streak that lasted from August 25 to November 24th. During this winless streak the Managerial team of John Schofield and John Deehan were sacked, and replaced with former Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson. Jackson turned things around and City were one of the form teams of the second half of 2007-2008.

This season the losing start had been repeated, with City yet to pick up anything in any of their four games to date. In fact when the two teams met at the same time last year both were in similar positions to where they are now.

The Team
City have a small squad, but most of the players available to Peter Jackson look more than capable of doing well at this level. Jackson rung in the changes during the summer and now in midfield City have got Stefan Oakes (left), Scott Kerr, Lee Frecklington, Shane Clarke and Martin Pembleton all competing for two places.

New keeper Rob Burch was sought after by others, including City, while Frank Sinclair could prove a clever buy if he still has the legs.

One to Watch
Frank Sinclair. Former Chelsea defender and Jamaican international, Sinclair has chosen to spend his twilight years at Sincil Bank. Since leaving Stamford Bridge a decade ago, Sinclair now 36, has played for Leicester and Huddersfield.

  • Town's attempted loan move for Manchester City full-back Javan Vidal has been put on hold after the 19-year-old apparently had second thoughts on a one month deal at Blundell Park.

  • Town either have to play Jamie Clarke or Ryan Bennett at right back, on continue with a three man defence that they employed at Blackburn.
  • Lincoln City have completed the signing of striker Adrian Patulea from Romanian club Petrolul Ploesti.

    Head to Head

Lincoln are probably Town's oldest adversary and the two have met in competitive matches over 100 times. Grimsby have the edge overall, although Lincoln just shade it at Sincil Bank.
