The Cherries are best remembered around these parts as our Wembley rivals in the 2-1 in Extra Time win that gave us our first piece of silverware under the Twin Towers since our creation. That Wembley goal by Wayne Burnett, his body contorted into some abstract art sculpture, must be viewed in a very different light down on the south coast. Nevertheless time has moved on and though our times have been rough spare a thought for the blessed Bournemouth. They may have a new shiny stadium, well 3 quarters of one; but also they have a dreadful 17-point deduction to deal with. One of the first supporter run clubs ended up in financial problems after their relegation last year narrowly missing out on safety as Crewe managed to stave off relegation during their first year in charge without Dario Gradi.

This season has seen Bournemouth perform relatively poorly, disastrously so if you take into account their predicament. 3 wins all season and 7 defeats so far mean that the Cherries need to improve if they are to stay up.
