Grimsby Town Survival Pack

By: Dave Boylen

WELL who would have thought it would come to this. There we are on the edge of the river with the league status just ebbing away at our feet.

I never in my wildest dreams thought when Mike Newell came to the club that we would still be in this predicament just a few months later. It really does show what state the club was in when he took over.

The boss has tried to change things around by bringing different players into positions he thought needed improving, but this thing called luck just does not seem to go Town's way. In the last few games where we have failed to gain any points Town just seemed to have collapsed at the most vital part of the games, usually just at the beginning of the game where they have for instance conceded two goals, for example at Rochdale.

And when they were winning at home against Morecambe by two goals to nil they ended up losing by three goals to two. It's all about concentration and we are not doing it, you have always got to keep your eye on the ball, as well as your man who is in immediate opposition to you. We do not seem to pick men up quick enough and then when they are left unmarked they usually score and leave us with a bloody nose, never mind tears in your eyes. It's really heartbreaking.

Well this is it, we the supporters have got to get ourselves together and support the lads, and here is a list of how we can help the lads out on the pitch.

  1. Get behind the players, do not boo them. Cheer instead.
  2. Get back into the habit of singing and chanting for your favourite player
  3. Get all your Wembley scarves and rosettes out once more and pretend that Blundell Park is Wembley.
  4. Get all your mates and family to turn up once again at Blundell Park to cheer the lads on for the last quarter of the season.
  5. Be nice to the Lincoln fans tomorrow when we beat them and thank them for turning up to cheer for Grimsby instead of Lincoln
  6. Finally I sincerely hope and pray that we get out of this mess and that I do not have to go through a season like this ever again.

We have now got twelve games left in the fight for survival, six at home and six away, still enough in my eyes to get out of this mess, so lets start with a win tomorrow.
