Town Make 'Keeper Enquiry

By: Ryan Robinson
Date: 08/07/2009

IT is believed that Grimsby Town have made an enquiry for former loanee 'keeper Nick Colgan. The Irish international joined Town on loan in 1994 from Chelsea but failed to make a first team appearance. The 35-year-old is now a free agent having been released by Premier League Sunderland in May.

The shot stopper has made 251 appearances, including 120 for Scottish side Hibernian between 1999 and 2004 and 15 games for Stockport County in 2003. He's been with many teams throughout his long career providing back-up to sides such as Crewe, Grimsby, Millwall and Ipswich.

Colgan also played 100 games for Barnsley for four years where he earned them a spot in the Championship with 20 clean sheets including a penalty save in the League One play off final against Swansea.

No contract has been offered by Town as of yet.
