GRIMSBY narrowly lost 1-0 in latest their pre-season friendly at League One side Stockport County. Town wasted several chances to score and eventually succumbed to a goal early in the second half.
Nick Hegarty missed several chances in the first half, a 45 minutes in which Town once again looked comfortable against a team from a higher division.
After a myriad of substitutions at half time County came into the game more in the second half, and scored early in the second period through Poole.
Grimsby had chances to get back into the game, with Proudlock going close on a couple of occasions.
The only worry for Town was an injury to midfielder Danny Boshell, who was forced to go off. It was much worse for the home side though as one of the Stockport players suffered a suspected broken leg.
