Leeds v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 10/11/2009

TOWN have made yet another loan signing, this time a 19-year-old left back Damien McCrory from Plymouth who is expected to make his debut against Leeds at Elland Road tonight. Caretaker boss Neil Woods is still hoping to make at least one more loan signing before the big cup game.

Irishman Damien McCrory has just spent two months on loan from Plymouth at Port Vale and featured in the 4-0 defeat of Town at Vale Park earlier this season.

Peter Sweeney and Olly Lancashire were both suspended for the cup humiliation by Bath, and the pair are expected to return for Town's JPT game against the favourites to win the competition.

However major doubts for the big clash at Elland road are Adrian Forbes (groin), who will have a late fitness test, and Rob Atkinson (groin) - who has had a slight recurrence of the injury problem which caused him to miss the last few weeks.

Other injured players are Adam Proudlock (ankle), Nathan Jarman (foot), Robbie Stockdale (hernia), Nick Hegarty (ankle) and Matt Heywood (knee).

Leeds are unlikely to play a substantially weakened side as they have no match on Saturday due to international call-ups.

Striker Tresor Kandol is suspended, as is loan midfielder Michael Doyle after a fifth booking on Saturday.

Two loan players who could reappear are Max Gradel and Sam Vokes who were cup tied at Oldham on Saturday, but eligible to play in this competition.

Andy Robinson and Rui Marques both returned to training last week following injuries and could feature.

Leeds have several players missing through injury. 'Keeper Shane Higgs (thigh), Ben Parker (hip) and former Mariner Jason Crowe (hamstring) are all almost certainly out, as is Australian international defender Patrick Kisnorbo who is playing for the Ozzie national side.

Star striker Jermaine Beckford is likely to play for the Yorkshire club.

Town (possible): Colgan, Wood, McCrory, Lancashire, Linwood, Bore, Sweeney, Boshell, Shahin, Conlon, North.
Subs: Akpa Akpro, Leary, Widdowson, Jones, Overton (GK).

Leeds United (from): Ankergren, Naylor, Michalik, Hughes, Bromby, Vokes, Gradel, White, Kilkenny, Johnson, Howson, Snodgrass, Beckford, Grella, Robinson, Showunmi, Prutton, Marques.
