Newell Sues the Mariners

FORMER Grimsby manager Mike Newell is suing the Mariners for over £50,000 in compensation after being sacked as Town boss last year. Newell and Town Chairman John Fenty had an infamous bust up, which led to the Grimsby boss being dismissed for "non-football reasons".
Since Newell's dismissal things have gone from bad to worse for the Mariners, with the team still to win since the former Luton boss left Blundell Park.
Newell's demand for compensation will reopen the debate about why the Liverpudlian was sacked.
Ironically Newell's successor Neil Woods's position is now under the spotlight, with many supporters questioning whether the former Youth Team coach has what it takes to lift the Mariners away from the bottom two.
Grim Rob Says: It's customary to pay off managers when they leave the club, with normally an arrangement being made between the two parties away from the courts. Why can't Newell and Fenty sort something out privately? Do we really need this distraction when there is the serious matter of overcoming relegation to contend with?
