Burton Tickets in Short Supply

TOWN have sold out their allocation of 1400 tickets to Burton, and are hopeful of getting a few hundred more from the Midland club. The first 200 fans at the ticket office on Tuesday morning with a Burton ticket stub will be given a special voucher entitling them to a ticket if they become available.

Several such vouchers have already been handed out to season ticket holders who have missed out on tickets.

With the stadium capacity at Burton being around 7000, and only 2000 home fans expected that leaves around 3000 empty seats if Grimsby are only given 1900 tickets, as is expected. Although Burton have said they will put measures in place to try an ensure Grimsby supporters into the away end it's inevitable that some Town fans will manage to get in and watch the game.

There was a similar situation on Saturday at Blundell Park when hundreds of Grimsby supporters were without a ticket and there was hundreds of empty seats in the away end. A few Town fans went in the area allocated to Barnet supporters, as well as a few fans of other local clubs of who were wanting to see Town get relegated.

Town need realistically to win the game against Burton to stand a chance of completely what would be a miraculous escape from what is probably the most feared relegation in professional football.

Grim Rob Says: It's a shame common sense can't prevail. Grimsby and Burton have no history of trouble, Burton are only playing for pride, and the two sets of fans could probably sit together in relative peace. Why do we need complete crowd segregation? In other sports, and many international football matches there is only notional crowd separation, and violence is no more common place there than it is with the segregation present - even in sports where alcohol is openly served throughout the action?
