Is football a business or a sport?

IN the midst of Christmas shopping, student riots and the winter weather it's easy to forget that we're in the middle of an important football season. Some may not regard the FA Trophy as an important competition, but with three weeks elapsed since the last game what Grimsby need is match time.

The only team news is that Dean Sinclair has signed permanently for the Mariners after two loan spells at the club whilst he was on the books at Charlton. Now a free agent he has put pen to paper after proving his fitness to the GTFC management team.

Elsewhere Lewis "sick note" Gobern looks like he is to leave the club. Since he hardly played for Town since joining in the summer, Gobern's departure is not likely to have much effect - other than removing him from the payroll. Gobern was involved in a training ground altercation with an unnamed team mate recently.

The club are asking for help to clear the BP pitch of snow. Any volunteers who can help should contact Nick Dale at the club on 01472 605050 or email nick@gtfc.co.uk.
