ROCHDALE striker Anthony Elding has joined Grimsby with the unenviable job of filling the boots of Alan Connell, who scored 29 times for the Mariners last season before a summer move to Swindon Town.
The 29-year-old has joined for an "undisclosed fee" from Spotland, putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, with the option of a second season at Blundell Park.
Boston-born Elding began his career with the Pilgrims, and has since played for a number of different clubs including Leeds United. Crewe and Hungarian outfit Ferencvarosi TC, before ending up at Rochdale. The six footer played 17 times for Dale in League One last season, finding the net three times.
