Grimsby v Alfreton Team News

TOWN'S inability to play a settled back four looks like to continue on Saturday as centre back Darran Kempson is doubtful with a groin injury. The Mariners have had their best results this season when they have played a settled side, something it's unlikely they will manage against Alfreton.
It is not all bad news however with three defenders returning to the squad. Utility man Bradley Wood comes back for Town after a one match suspension, and Gary Silk (knee) and Scott Garner (knee) are now fully recovered from their injuries. Silk came on for the last few minutes against Kidderminster, his first outing since the season's opener against Fleetwood, and will be pressing a claim for a regular right back slot in the team. He may have to bide his time though as Charlie I'Anson came into the side and performed well against Kidderminster, and Bradley Wood may well be above him in the pecking order at the moment.
Still out though is left back Jamie Green (hamstring), who is due to sign a contract until the end of the year next week. Green is not far away from a full recover however.
Two players with knee injuries are Frankie Artus and Damian Spencer, neither who is expected to start, but striker Liam Hearn, who used to play for the visitors, has recovered from the illness which caused him to miss the 1-1 draw with Kidderminster on Tuesday.
Alfreton boss Nicky Law (one of only two managers not to be sacked by John Fenty, although he was never offered a new contract when he failed to stop Grimsby being relegated) has injury concerns for his first return to Cleethorpes, and several changes look likely from the side which lost at Telford in midweek.
Centre-back Theo Street (back) and the manager's son midfielder Josh Law (groin) are both doubtful. However ex-Mariner Nathan Jarman and former Lincoln striker Drewe Broughton, both are available after suspension. On-loan Burton striker James Ellison has also recently renewed his loan at North Street
The Mariners and Alfreton have never crossed paths before, although the two have regularly met at reserve team level before Town's second string side was disbanded at the start of this season.
